Vendor with Security Structure Installation

Thank you for your purchase of the ShurVend vending system.

To make the installation of your new machine and the security structure as easy as possible, we are going to outline the procedures to use to set up the machine as quickly as possible.

  1. You should have a forklift available (one with side-shift is preferable) to unload the palleted package from the truck and move the vendor and cage around. Those of you who request lift gate service should have a pallet jack available to move the machine around.

  2. Unwrap the packing materials from your "package" and check for any damage of any kind to the structure.

  3. Two sets of keys for the security structure and the main vendor door can be retrieved by pushing the bottom access door in and finding them in the drop box. The power cord is held out of harms way by using the drop box door to hold it. Leave the cord in the box. Be aware that some products from your starter kit may have fallen during transport and will also be in the drop box. The product can be reinstalled at a later time.

  4. Your "package" of vendor and cage is a new design where the vendor is already secured to steel runners that are part of the cage. The vendor can not be moved with relation to the cage. You will find the "package" supported on 4 x 4 timbers that that are secured into the cage supports with lag screws. Remove these screws and discard the 4 X 4 s. (Handy trick to get cage/vendor off the 4X4s-Put the tips of the forks under the door bottom and gently lift the cage. Remove the 1X4 and set back down on the 4X4. Drive the forks about 80% of the way under the cage and lift the cage/vendor up to remove the other 1X4 and 4X4s) There are 4-- ½-inch all-thread bolts in the drop box that you should screw (from the top) all the way into the ½-inch nut at each corner of the cage. Move the "package" to the place where you want to permanently install the vendor. Lower the "package" onto these 4 all-threads. Remove the pallet jack or fork lift front under the "package". Next to these all-threads you will see collars with a hole in the bottom, this is where the concrete bolts are installed to hold the cage and vendor in place. By unscrewing the all-threads in sequence you can lower the "package" into place and level it at the same time. If you have a slope to your concrete pad, you can stack up the ½-inch flat washers centered under the collars before installing the concrete bolts. When driving concrete bolts into place, screw the nut even with the top of the bolt to protect the threads. After tightening nut tack weld the nut and bolt together. If you really want to secure this unit, drill and drive concrete bolts into the angle iron inside the cage under the door.

  5. Using your keys and the T-Handle wrench, unlock the cage and open the door. The power cord to the vendor is held in the door of the drop box; remove before opening the door to the vendor. Plug the power cord into your electricity source or hard wire it if you wish.

  6. Inside the vendor at the bottom of the machine you will find the machine manuals, extra motors, dividers, helixes, candy bar pushers, and extra pricing labels. The display should be scrolling. We have programmed it to read "Deposit Money and make a selection". If you want a different message consult the Operation and Service Manual.

  7. The coin acceptor must have coins in it (about half full) before the bill validator will accept bills. The following procedure needs to be done. Go into "mode", press the # button again and toggle down to "FILL/DISPENSE". The coin acceptor is programmed to keep the coin tubes accepting coins until full before letting coins drop into the coin box. Fill the coin tubes through the coin slot with quarters, dimes and nickels. The control board counts the coins in each denomination and displays the number on the LED. The quarters will fill one of the two-quarter tubes in the acceptor; you will have to fill the other quarter tube from the back of the acceptor if you want to use the vendor for making change.

If you have the new Mars 7512i changer(for tokens), just remove the cassette, fill the tubes with some coin, and reinstall. The Mars will automatically count the money in the cassette and display the amount on its own display. Install any of the products that have fallen out during shipping. Check all of the helixes to see that all of the products are straight. If you purchased a Starter Kit many of the products were installed for shipping and should have two empty slots in front of them. This was done to eliminate too many products from dropping during shipment. Usually you just have to move the product from the back of the column to the front slot. If YOU PURCHASED THE STARTER KIT, YOU ARE NOW OPEN FOR BUSINESS!!

  8. If you wish to keep track of the number of vends and the amount of money the machine does during a week/month, then put the machine into the "mode" status, toggle down to ACCOUNTING DATA. Follow the procedures as outlined in the Service Manual.

  9. THE CLEANING AND CARE OF THE LEXAN FRONT. As tough as Lexan is for security of the vending products and the machine, it has a very soft surface with regard to scratches and the "fogging up" from these scratches. DO NOT USE ANY AMMONIA COMPOUNDS, WINDEX, OR GLASS CLEANERS ON LEXAN. USE A MILD SOAP AND WATER SOLUTION, ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL FOR GREASE, OR A LIQUID WAX LIKE "CARNUBA". USE A TERRY CLOTH TOWEL THAT IS CLEAN FROM BEING WASHED AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED BEFORE. ANY DIRT THAT IS ON THE CLOTH CAN SCRATCH THE SURFACE OF LEXAN.

  10. Your security cage has an 1/8-inch acrylic plastic sheet that is installed facing the customer to help decrease the scratches and abrasions that people seem to want to try on the windows in the vendor. It has a much "harder" surface than Lexan, so it should be easier to keep clean in the cage. Behind this acrylic is the standard 3/8-inch (or ½") Lexan for the security of the machine. If the outside of the window does get "foggy" or badly scratched, you can replace the acrylic for $25-$30 versus the $175 for the Lexan. There is 3/8-inch Lexan in the vendor or, if a Visi-Combo, there is triple pane glass.

With any new machine, it is best for you to test vend some products before opening up to the public. Test vend the products by closing the door, securing it, and vending the items into the drop box. The products need to drop through the Sensit devices at the top of the drop box to activate the system. Make sure the bill acceptor takes $1 and $5 (both old and new), the coin acceptor accepts coins and that the machine gives the correct change. Even mis-load a row so that you can see how the "guaranteed delivery system" works. On the right side of the machine under the bottom tray is the raised, plastic fuse holder that protects the control board, etc. and the ON/OFF switch. Whenever you work on the bill validator, coin acceptor or control board, turn off the power.

This should make it easier for you to put your new machine into service. If you have any questions or problems getting started, please contact us.
