ShurVend "51" or Visi Stainless Hole-in-the-Wall Installation

  1. All of the necessary hardware to install the faceplate (bolts, nuts and brackets) should be in a bag or wrapped and sent with the shipment. This hardware is for installation in the standard 8" block wall of an equipment room. If your walls are a different thickness, you need to purchase a different length of the 1/2" all- thread bolts. By the way there are left hand and right hand angle iron brackets.

  2. The size of the opening needed for this installation is 48"W x 76"H. This allows for about a 1" clearance on the top and sides for some variation. The floor of the equipment room and the pad outside this area should be smooth. We suggest the electrical outlet is best placed on the wall to right of the vendor (viewed from the rear) and about 2-3 feet off the floor.

  3. Unwrap the palleted vendor and stainless faceplate being very careful not to scratch or dent it. Cut all of the steel straps and remove the faceplate from the pallet and place near the hole cut into the wall.

  4. The refrigerated vendor (Visi-Combo) has a box on top of the vendor with all the casters, brackets, extra motors, and other hardware used for the installation of this unit. In the "51" vendor these same parts are inside the vendor underneath the bottom tray. Locate the casters first.

  5. Lift the unit up with a pallet jack or fork lift, unscrew the round pallet supports at each corner, thread the caster and ¼-inch shim where the pallets came out, and set down on the casters for support. Now you can roll the vendor into the equipment room or wherever. The casters have been adjusted with square shims so the distance is ¼-inch from the top of the swivel housing on the caster to the bottom of the plate that the caster screws into. This will make the Lazy Susan approximately the right height to fit the machine into the faceplate. There are extra ¼-inch shims to adjust the height and level the machine to fit into the faceplate openings properly. To loosen the casters and shims use a ¾" open-end wrench on the nut underneath the swivel portion of the caster. Retighten after adjustment.

  6. Reinstall the side turnbuckle brackets (long end toward the rear of the vendor) and handles (screws enclosed) using the holes already drilled on the vendor. We recommend that beads of silicone be used on the brackets and handles to add strength before installing.

  7. The "Lazy Susan support system" has been set on wood blocks to support it and the nut on the centering bolt has been tightened to hold the vendor on these blocks during transportation. Loosen the nut underneath to allow for a clearance from the bottom of the "lazy susan" of about ¼-inch. Use a bar or 2X4 to lift the machine and remove the blocks. You can then roll or rotate the vendor freely. The front of the Lazy Susan (toward the faceplate) is the end that has brackets on each side with an elongated hole in each of them. Roll the ShurVend machine into the equipment room with the back of the machine going in first.

  8. You will need someone inside of the equipment room with the bolts and brackets and a hammer drill with a 3/8" concrete drill in it. "Walk" the plate over to your opening, run a bead of silicone around the edge of the plate, and place the bottom of the plate against the bottom of the wall. Tilt the plate up against the wall to close the opening.

  9. The person inside the equipment room needs to start the bolt into the threaded coupler at the top left (or right) of the plate. Put a 1/2" all-thread bolt through the larger hole in the end of an angle-iron bracket. (There are left and right hand brackets) When the 1/2" nut is in place but still loose, rotate the bracket up (normally horizontal) against the wall, level, and drill 3/8" holes into the block wall using the holes that are predrilled as guides. Drive the concrete bolts provided into the wall and tighten. Now you can tighten the 1/2" nut to pull the plate up against the outside of the wall. This will hold the plate in place while you secure the other three brackets into the top and 2 middle couplers and secure it to the wall. Just snug the 1/2" All-thread bolts into the plate to pull the plate securely up against the outside of the wall.

  10. After the plate is "snugged" up against the outside of the wall all the way around, you can drill the holes to put the concrete bolts into the bottom angle iron of the plate, thus securing the plate to your concrete floor.

  11. Now roll the vendor up to the faceplate and secure the Lazy Susan support system using the bottom two couplers and the All-thread bolts/washers/nuts supplied. The all-threads are 3 feet long so you can attach the vendor to the faceplate from the rear of the machine when you are very close to a wall or other equipment. Roll the vendor up to the faceplate to check that the bill validator will fit into its cutout in the faceplate. The turnbuckle brackets on either side of the vendor are adjustable horizontally so you can center the bill validator into the cutout on the faceplate. Leave approximately ¼-inch space between the bracket and the door on each side because the back of the vendor is wider than the door. Tighten each bracket securely when this is correct. You may also have to adjust the Lazy Susan up/down to make the validator fit properly by adjusting the threaded caster supports. You also have some horizontal adjustment because of the hole in the lazy-susan bracket where the all-threads are installed. Level the vendor/Lazy Susan support system in both directions. Tighten the bottom all-threads on the faceplate to bring the Lazy Susan support system up to the faceplate. The vendor should now move up into the vending position on the faceplate and fit all of the cutouts. To familiarize yourself with how this vendor works, pull the vendor back from the wall until it stops, rotate the vendor 180 degrees toward your left, push it back up to the faceplate, and secure with the turnbuckles on each side. This is the servicing position of your vendor. You can open the door (which opens from left to right) to fill product/remove money, etc. After servicing, pull the vendor back, rotate the machine to the right and push into its vending position. Secure with the turnbuckles on each side.

  12. Your faceplate has an 1/8-inch acrylic plastic sheet over the ½-inch Lexan window that is installed facing the customer to help decrease the scratches and abrasions that people seem to want to try on the windows in the vendor. It has a much "harder" surface than Lexan, so it is easier to keep clean in the faceplate. If the outside of the window does get "foggy" or badly scratched, you can replace the acrylic for $25-$30 versus the $175 for the Lexan.

  13. Now go to the instructions for the ShurVend vendor to get your machine ready to start vending.
